News From Casual World Control July 21, 2011 Two NEW Casuals dates for Summer 2011 have been added to our Dates page, in addition to new dates for the Spampinato Brothers, the Catbirds, and Chandler Travis (Philharmonic, Philharmonette, Three-o) - including a Japan tour for the Spampinato Brothers and a Western Mass/Upstate NY mini tour for the Chandler Travis Three-o. May 26, 2011 After much deep inner reflection and gnashing of teeth, the Casuals have chosen not to play the Beachcomber (or anywhere else) regularly this year, and believe me, we'll be missing getting to party down with all our buds every Sunday BAD! It's not a decision we take lightly, but the truth is, we're all pretty busy with (and extremely proud of!) our various other projects (the Spampinato Brothers, the Catbirds, Space Pussy, the Rip-It-Ups, and the Chandler Travis Philharmonic and Three-0, etc.), and so felt the need to pull back for this year, anyway. It sure isn't that we don't love you, and we sure do thank all the Beachcomber folks for having us for all these decades -it has been a hell of a run, amazing, glorious, dream-like, you name it, and we want everyone to know that we're not pulling the plug, just taking a little break. Which will hurt, believe me... WE'LL MISS PLAYING EVERY SUNDAY FOR THE GREATEST CROWDS EVER INVENTED IN THE BOSSEST LOCATION IN THE WORLD LIKE CRAZY! Wanted to stress that we're not breaking up or anything, just cutting back for a season. We'll still be doing a few shows, as you can see, and may yet add a couple more, but for right now, the 4 shows listed on our Dates page is what we've got. Again, this was our idea -the Beachcomber remains the most gracious of hosts! Sadly for our rockin' brethren, at this point it does look like they won't continue the Sunday afternoon happy hour shows in our absence, though we've very much encouraged them to keep the ball rolling; I suppose there's no harm in letting them know, in a friendly and considerate way, that people might still need to rock on Sundays, if you feel that way -but keep in mind that there's much reason to be grateful they kept it going as long as they did! Sundays will never be the same (well, actually, three of them will be... let's all plan ahead...) Hey, wanted to add some vids or music or something... ended up checking out whatever had been put up on youtube for the last years, most of which are well-meant but alarmingly atrocious videos shot by folks on their phones and stuff, soooo... here's a link to a collection I've gradually assembled of some of the better Casuals youtube videos from over the years... hope you dig (and hope the link works without my idiot password)!
